Carl Roth Award of the GDCh for Dr Jacob Schneidewind
Junior research group leader Dr. Schneidewind awarded Carl Roth Award of the GDCh
The Carl Roth Award of the German Chemical Society (GDCh) honors young scientists working on sustainable synthesis routes or innovative uses of chemicals. This year’s prize was awarded on 24.03.2022 to Dr. Jacob Schneidewind (ITMC), with the award ceremony being part of the Spring Symposium in Hanover. It is endowed with 5.000 Euro in prize money and financed by Carl Roth GmbH & Co. KG.
His work honored by the award covers the sustainable synthesis of organic compounds as well as the development of catalysts for carbon dioxide valorization, especially for the conversion of CO2 to methanol. Furthermore, Dr. Schneidewind’s innovative impulses in the area of photocatalytic water splitting for production of green hydrogen were highlighted. These results were produced during his master thesis as well as PhD studies at the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis in Rostock.
Since the beginning of 2022 Dr. Schneidewind leads a junior research group at ITMC, which is supported by a Liebig Fellowship. In this context he continues his research, with a strong focus on green hydrogen production.
