Research
Over the last 55 years, telomerization was extensively studied in the feld of homogeneous catalysis using various catalyst systems, dienes and nucleophiles. The term „telomerization“ represents the oligomerization of 1,3-dienes with help of a nucleophile under the influence of a transition metal and is a promising approach of a C-C-linking reaction with a 100 % atom effiency. Based on this approach, single-site catalysts represent interesting alternative catalyst systems that combine the advantages of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts. Due to the variety of products, a wide range of useful chemicals can be produced using telomerization. Isoprene in particular is a promising reactant, as it can be obtained from biomass and is the basic building block of terpenes, one of the most important phytochemicals.
Research focus:
- Telomerisation of isoprene with various nucleophiles
- Preparation, characterisation and application of solid, molecular phosphine catalysts
