Research
The cleaning of clothing has played a role in everyday life since the beginning of mankind. In 1878, the Henkel company was the first to launch a commercial washing detergent on the market, "Bleichsoda". Since that time, the continuous improvement of the world's detergents has been in the foreground. However, as the population increases and the demand for detergents rises, the need for raw materials increases. The increasingly acute shortage of raw materials means that the demand for sustainably based detergents is growing.
Based on this, sustainable functional polymers for use in detergents and cleaning agents based on renewable raw materials are to be produced. The research focus is on the production of diols and diamines as functional monomers for precursor polymers, which can then be tested for washing processes in cooperation with industry partners.
Research focus
- Functional diols and diamines as building blocks for new sustainable functional polymers for use in laundry detergents and household cleaners.
