Research
It is well known that the crude oil resources of the world are limited. Thus, in the last years new methods like fracking were developed to also exploit crude oil and gas deposits which are not well accessable. However, this leads to a change in feedstock composition which results in worse yields of many crude oil – based chemicals. Up to now, the forming gap cannot be closed by their biobased pendants. In order to still use the existing resources efficiently and to guarantee the supply of those important basic materials, alternative reaction pathways need to be found and existing processes to be optimized.
To also create existing processes more sustainable, integration of CO2 is of major interest for this industrial project. Thereby, a tailor-made catalyst for a gas-phase reaction shall be developed. To gain a deeper understanding of structure-activity relations, a variety of classical analytical methods of heterogeneous catalysis like CO2-desorption or H2-TPR is used.
Focus of Research
- Development of tailor-made catalysts for gas-phase transformations
- Analysis of structure-activity relations
- Kinetic analysis & optimization of reaction parameters
