Overview on Resarch

In my research, I focus on the development of catalytically active microgels. The goal is to implement the catalytic activity through catalytically active monomers, which are covalently build into the microgel structure. The synthesis of these monomers is one main aspect of my research work. The focus in regards to the monomers are on metal-free, well defined molecules, which function as organocatalysts. In the next step, these systems are used as interfacial catalysts. When two immersible liquids come in contact, an interface is formed. Microgels then assemble at this interface, through which catalyst and reactant come into contact with each other.

Research focus

  • Synthesis and characterization of catalytically active monomers and microgels
  • Investigation of catalytic performance in heterogeneous liquid-liquid systems
