Overview on Research

The main focus of Selin Bulut's research is to design and investigate bio-based microgels consisting of e.g. Dextran as well as supramacromolecular microgels, where morphology, porosity, mechanical strength, and shape can be modulated by droplet-based microfluidics. The main goal is to cross-link the microgels into cell-compatible 3D networks for the possible application as tissue-engineering scaffolds.

Research focus

  • Functionalization of biopolymers e.g. dextran
  • Development of an efficient microgel synthesis technique using microfluidics to selectively vary the size/shape/internal morphology of microgels
  • Fabrication of cell-compatible 3D scaffolds from microgels

Projects

Artificial Biohybrid Physiologically Relevant Cells
