Overview on Research
The aim of my research is the modification of a surface’s characteristics with functional microgels. The structure of surfaces like glass can be adapted by printing of microgels with soft lithography techniques. The chemical characteristics of an interface can be adapted by post-modification of the reactive microgels. Such surfaces are interesting for application in cell culture. Here, it could already be shown that the direction of growth and movement of cells can be guided. Another application is the production of microgel-based anti-ice coatings for textiles, which improve the safety and longevity of outdoor equipment.
Research focus
- Synthesis, post-modification and characterisation of reactive microgels in solution and on surfaces
- Surface structuring with soft lithography
