Overview on Research

My research focuses on the investigation of polymerization kinetics and microgel formation mechanisms during precipitation polymerization reactions by experimental approaches. The combination of on-line analytics like reaction calorimetry, DLS or Raman spectroscopy allows for monitoring of the microgel synthesis in-situ and helps to understand the reaction mechanisms. Such detailed analysis of the reactions permits the generation of computational models helping to predict experimental recipes in order to produce special morphologies, cross-link densities or sizes of microgels. The batch reactions are optimized and compared to syntheses in continuous flow.
