Overview on Research

In my work, I am approaching the decoration of bacteria cells with biocompatible functional microgels and encapsulation of bacteria in microgels for catalysis with whole-cell-biofilms in organic solvent. The created biofilm is swollen in buffer before added into organic solvents and therefore limits the diffusion of solvent to the cells and decreases lysis of the cell membrane. Control of substrate and solvent diffusion can be adjusted by the structure and morphology of microgels and encapsulation strategies.
