Overview on Resarch
My research deals with the synthesis of biobased hybrid-hydrogels, consisting of the biological component fibrin and synthetic functional polymers, which will be used as coatings for cardio-vascular implants. The focus is on the influence of the chemical structure (fibrin:polymer ratio), network topology (permanent vs. supramolecular crosslinks) and morphology of hydrogels on their mechanical behavior and degradation profile.
Research focus
- Synthesis and characterization of functional polymers using RAFT polymerizations
- Synthesis and characterization of fibrin-based hydrogels
- Investigation of the cell proliferation in and on new fibrin-based hydrogels

PAK961 P1: Functional fibrin-based hydrogels for the control of cell/biomaterial interactions in biohybrid cardiovascular implants
