Chirality plays a significant role in pharmaceutical chemistry. More than half of the active substances used today contain at least one stereogenic group, and the trend is rising. However, the different enantiomers do not always show the same medical effect, as can be seen in the probably best-known example of thalidomide.
My aim is to use the enantioselective hydrohydrazonomethylation recently established in our working group for the construction of chiral nitrogen compounds.
