Research
Alina Adams' group focuses on the development and implementation of environmentally friendly and sustainable analytical tools and methods with high potential as alternatives to standard analytical methods. Our research is at the interface of chemistry, physics, and engineering and utilizes a variety of analytical methods, with low-field NMR playing a central role. We design equipment for high pressure analysis suitable for the study of pure gases, gas mixtures, and the interactions of gases with liquids and with solids. Currently, we are also successfully applying this equipment for para-hydrogen based NMR hyperpolarization to overcome current pressure limitations of commercial apparatus of about 10 bar. In addition, we focus on the development of experimental approaches, often in combination with chemometrics, for simple, efficient and rapid quantitative analysis of complex samples, with a particular focus on fossil and renewable fuels and polymers.
