Nominees for the Deutscher Zukunftspreis 2019

Researchers from RWTH Aachen, the Max Planck Society and Covestro AG were nominated for the Deutsche Zukunftspreis 2019 for plastics based on CO2.

Today, the three teams nominated for the "Deutscher Zukunftspreis 2019" were officially announced and presented during a press conference at the "Deutsches Museum" in Munich.

Through joint research by the groups of Walter Leitner (RWTH Aachen University and Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion, CEC), Christoph Gürtler (Covestro AG) and Berit Stange (Covestro AG), a petroleum-based raw material can be significantly reduced in an innovative process by the use of the greenhouse gas CO2 for an application as plastic material (Polyurethanes).

The decision for the Technology and Innovation award by the Federal President will be made on 27th of November. The video of the project presentation at the "Deutsches Museum" from 11th of September is available on the following website:
